I just recently chose my advisor but I find that we don't really get along. Another problem is, he will be absent for a few months, at a crucial time. I've found another professor I'd prefer to work with, but I don't know how to tell the other one I don't want to work with him. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi,
My advice is that you should be careful when you decide to switch advisors. Make sure things are done smoothly with the administration of your University leading the way in your transition.
Many professors are very "territorial" and have a strong ego. We are living in a small world where you may bump tomorrow as a colleague against the one you just dumped as an ex-advisor yesterday. Think about the anonymous reviewers for publications and grant proposals who can hurt your chances ... "anonymously" .
There is a nice article titled "How to Choose a Good Supervisor", It's available here: http://bit.ly/I6Vd6G

What is the best way to start writing a research proposal with at least 50 references. After reading couple of articles or papers, I tend to forget the previous ones, even though I take notes every time I finish reading a paper. Kindly advise the best strategy to adopt.
My area of investigation is Human Factors.
